Rachel Berwald and Russell Cohen wedding took place Nov. 10, 2024, at Union Station in St. Louis, surrounded by family and friends. Rachel is the daughter of Laurie and Bruce Berwald of Creve Coeur and the granddaughter of Gayle and David Berwald of Creve Coeur and Sandy (z’l) and Arnie (z’l) Peck of Cincinnati. Russell is the son of Gena and Ethan Cohen of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and the grandson of Susannah and Avery (z”l) Cohen of Beachwood, Ohio, and Myrna (z”l) and Lawrence (z”l) Kutin of Mt. Arlington, N.J.

Rachel and Russell first met on her very first Shabbat in Los Angeles, during Adon Olam at the Library Minyan of Temple Beth Am. They later got engaged at the Getty Villa in Malibu, Calif., on the weekend of the infamous “hurri-quake” in August 2023.

The wedding party included Rachel’s sisters, Sara and Ariel Berwald, as Maids of Honor, and Russell’s sisters, Mara Mallenbaum and Allison Cohen, as Best Women. Rabbi Gail Labovitz and Cantor Sharon Nathanson officiated.

Following the celebration, Rachel and Russell enjoyed a honeymoon in Thailand. The couple now resides in Los Angeles.
