Newmark-Wirt Engagement

Michael and Judith Jackoway Newmark of St. Louis and Stephen and Dena Jaffe Wirt of Bay City, Mich., are delighted to announce the engagement of their children, Jordan Sara Newmark and Daniel Jordan Wirt.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, the bride is a founding member of the Leopold Group, a modern-dance company in Chicago. For several seasons, she danced at the Muny. Granddaughter of the late Dr. Marlin and Goldie Jackoway and the late Harold and Janice Newmark, all of St. Louis, she is in graduate school in occupational therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her mother is theater critic for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and her father, who is retired, headed a social service organization serving the severely and chronically mentally ill.

The groom is a vice-president of the Wirt-Rivette Group, a financial investment and consulting organization. He holds his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from Western Michigan University. He is the grandson of the late Rubin and Judy Jaffe of Detroit and the late Jack and Alice Wirt of Bay City. The Bay City public library is named for Alice and Jack Wirt, who counted it among their varied philanthropic efforts, both Jewish and community-wide. Stephen and Dena Wirt, who founded Wirt Financial Services, parent company of Wirt-Rivette, continue their family tradition of contributing to the community.

The wedding will take place next year in Chicago.
