Amanda Ruth Margolis of Irvine, Calif., daughter of Ronda Gold Margolis and Stephen Margolis of Branford, Conn., and Brad Edward Mariam of Irvine, Calif., son of Lois and Rick Mariam of San Diego, Calif., have announced their engagement. 

She is the granddaughter of Kaila Margolis and the late Leonard Margolis of New Haven, Conn., and Jacqueline Gold and the late Robert Gold of New Haven, Conn. He is the grandson of Phillip Mariam of Chesterfield and the late Francine Mariam, and Sylvia and Arthur Jaffe. 

The bride-to-be is the sister of Dr. Asa Margolis of Baltimore, Md. Her fiancé is the brother of Craig Mariam and sister-in-law Penny (uncle to Jordyn and Collin), and brother of Kim Shainsky and brother-in-law Pavel (uncle to Sulia and Finley).

The bride-to-be earned her bachelor of arts degree in American Studies at Connecticut College with a minor in Spanish. She earned her master’s degree from San Francisco State University in marriage and family therapy and school counseling. She is presently lower school counselor at Tarbut V’Torah Community Day School in Irvine, Calif. Her fiancé earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Kansas. He is currently a divisional VP of sales for Medline Industries. The couple met on JDate.
