Lite-Friedman Wedding

Thúy-Lan Võ Lite and Gabriel Nathan Friedman were married June 9, 2018 at Lumen Private Event Space, where Rabbi James Bennett of Congregation Shaare Emeth officiated.

Thúy-Lan is the daughter of Dr. Thúy-Liêũ T. Võ and the late Dr. Howard S. Lite of St. Louis. She is the granddaughter of Jacob Lite and the late Paula Lite of St. Louis; the late Thuần Văn Võ of Oklahoma City; and Mỹ Lê Võ of Shakopee, Minn.

Gabriel is the son of Dr. Carol Friedman and Richard Friedman of Skokie, Ill. He is the grandson of Kay Friedman and the late Howard Friedman of Skokie, and the late Anneliese Dreifus Neubauer and Franz Otto Neubauer of Columbus, Ohio.

The bridesmaids were Stephanie Myles, Louisa Ferguson, Lindsey-Paige McCloy, Monica Guo, Saria McKeithen-Mead and Cristina Shea. The groomsmen were Aaron Friedman, Daniel Friedman, Joshua Rosenberg, William Hummel, Ofer Fass and Samuel Lite. Flannery Jane Myles-Williams, the daughter of the bride’s cousin, was flower girl.

The couple took a wedding trip to Geneva, London, Prague, and Amsterdam in March. At the time, Gabriel was studying in Geneva for a research fellowship in neural plasticity. The honeymoon was taken before the wedding to accommodate Gabriel’s neurosurgery residency schedule.

Gabriel and Thúy-Lan don’t remember meeting, but they have been Facebook friends since their first year at Harvard Medical School in 2013. Their first conversation on record occurred a year later when, during a house party hosted by Thúy-Lan roommates, she made fun of Gabriel’s taste in music. Weeks later, they reconnected after the Harvard Medical School Second Year Show, when Thúy-Lan playfully programmed her number into Gabriel’s phone.

After a few weeks of “dates” studying for their medical boards at the library, Thúy-Lan finally convinced Gabriel to ditch the books and they subsequently shared their first kiss at a rock show in Allston.

Gabriel proposed in summer of 2017, while the couple walked along the coast in Portland, Maine during a rainstorm. Many oysters were eaten in celebration.

The couple resides in Cambridge, Mass.
