Samantha Lazar, daughter of Marilyn and Jeffrey Lazar of Skokie, Ill. and Adam Shapiro, son of Cindy and Lon Shapiro of Creve Coeur, have announced their engagement.

She is the granddaughter of Sarah and the late Harry Silverstein of Skokie. and Pearl and the late William Lazar, of Skokie.

He is the grandson of the Floyd and the late Arleen Emert of St. Louis and Jack and the late Ruth Shapiro of St. Louis.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Niles North High School and Indiana University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education. She is currently earning her master’s in social work at Loyola University in Chicago.

Her fiancé is a graduate of Parkway North High School, Indiana University and John Marshall Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree in law. He is currently working for Abels and Annes P.G., Attorneys-at-Law.

A June, 2011 wedding is planned.
