Ruth Celia Igielnik and Benjamin Brenner Wieder were married Oct. 11, 2015 at The World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park. Rabbi Noah Arnow of Kol Rinah officiated.
Ruth is the daughter of Debbie Igielnik and Simon Igielnik of Clayton and the granddaughter of Dorothy Engelhardt and the late Simon Engelhardt of Dayton, Ohio, and the late Fela and Jack Igielnik of Kansas City, Mo. Benjamin is the son of Judi and Richard Wieder of Plainview, N.Y. and the grandson of the late Sidney and Suzie Brenner of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the late Lenny Wieder.
The bride chose her friend Elana Schrank as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousin Julien Guttman, sister-in-law Jessica Igielnik and friends Jessica Katz, Emily Silverman and Lynn Courter. The groom chose his brother Michael Wieder as best man. The couple met waiting for a bus in Baltimore. While they didn’t exchange information at the time, Benjamin came across Ruth’s profile on the OKCupid website a month later and wrote to her immediately. The rest is history.
After two years of dating, Ruth moved to Pittsburgh for graduate school. Ben and Ruth dated long distance for a year. Upon Ruth’s return, when they moved into their first home together, Ben promptly proposed. He had invited their families to Washington, D.C. to celebrate as a surprise.
