Samara Danit Shachar Hendin, daughter of Sandra Ari Shachar-Krasnoff and Richard S. Hendin, both of St. Louis, and Adam Gregory Soiref, son of Harriet and Gary Soiref of Swampscott, Massachusetts, have announced their engagement. 

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Virginia Brookes of Chesterfield, and the late William H. Bruce, Sr. and Elinor Kassoff of Chesterfield and the late Martin Hendin. Her fiancé is the grandson of Ione Schatzman and the late Jack Schatzman of Passaic, New Jersey, and the late Helen and the late Morton Soiref of Omaha, Nebraska. The bride-to-be earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University and her MAT (Master in the Arts of Teaching) degree from Brandeis University. She is currently a fifth grade teacher at the Jewish Community Day School in Boston. Her fiancé earned his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and earned his DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston.

The couple met at a Young Professionals Leadership event sponsored by the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston. An August, 2015 wedding is planned.
