Hellman-Goldberg Engagement

Hellman-Goldberg Engagement

Dahlia Hellman, daughter of Howard and Lilly Hellman of Tulsa, Okla., and Kevin Goldberg, son of Michael and Marta Goldberg of St. Louis, have announced their engagement.

Dahlia is the granddaughter of the late Lou and Lisa Hellman of St. Louis, and the late Oscar and Frieda Fetter of Studio City, Calif. Kevin is the grandson of Oscar and the late Elaine Goldberg of St. Louis, and the late Gilbert and Silvia Feder of Kansas City, Kan.

The bride-to-be earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and mathematics for secondary education from University of Texas-Austin. Her fiancé earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University- Bloomington. He will graduate in the summer with a doctorate of clinical psychology from Adler University.

The couple met through a dating app two months after Dahlia moved to Chicago. Dahlia and Kevin soon realized they lived three blocks from each other and discovered that their grandparents, Lou and Lisa Hellman and Oscar and Elaine Goldberg, had been great friends through B’nai Amoona.

After dating for two years, Kevin invited Dahlia to attend a “fundraiser” and on the way stopped by the lily pond in Lincoln Park, where Kevin’s cousin was waiting with a camera. When Dahlia asked why he was there, Kevin surprised Dahlia by dropping to one knee and proposing. The couple then went on to the “fundraiser,” a surprise party with members of their families to celebrate their engagement.

A November 2017 wedding is planned.
