Furman-Berger Engagement

Lisi Furman, daughter of Dr. David and Barbara Furman of Chesterfield, and Jason Berger, son of Marc and Sue Berger of Harrisburg, Pa., have announced their engagement.

Lisi is the granddaughter of the late Dr. Harry and Lil Dalin, and the late Maury and Ann Furman, all of St. Louis. Jason is the grandson of the late Bess and Harold Possoff of Philadelphia, and Annie and Murray Berger of Los Angeles.

The bride-to-be, a graduate of Parkway Central High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Indiana University at Bloomington and a Master of Arts degree in theater from Lindenwood University. She is currently a seventh grade social studies teacher in Atlanta. Her fiancé is a project manager for AmDocs.

The bride and groom were fixed up by the groom’s sister, with Jason’s niece (a student in Lisi’s class) and his best friend both nudging the relationship forward.

Jason proposed to Lisi in front of her students at school, where she was administering the annual geography bee to her seventh period class.

“It was such a completely wonderful surprise, to have this incredibly special moment surrounded by my students and friends,” Lisi said. “No one has ever rendered me speechless before, and it is a memory I will always treasure.”

A fall 2018 wedding is planned.
