Sarit Friedman, daughter of Dr. Gary and Michele Friedman of Long Island, N.Y., and Benjamin Goldberg, son of Dr. Steven and Wendy Goldberg of Chesterfield, have announced their engagement.
Sarit is the granddaughter of Maralyn and the late Isidore Friedman of New York, Annette Baslaw-Finger of New York and Florida, the late Alfred Baslaw and the late Max Finger. Benjamin is the grandson of Barbara and the late Saul Mirowitz of St. Louis, and the late Joan Goldberg and the late Joe Goldberg.
After graduating from Hebrew Academy of Five Towns and Rockaway in Long Island, the bride-to-be attended Sha’alvim in Israel. She received bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology from Brandeis University as well as a master’s degree in social-organizational psychology from Columbia University. She will receive her Ph.D. in organizational psychology from Hofstra University in the summer of 2018.
After Benjamin graduated from Block Yeshiva High School in St. Louis, he attended Lev HaTorah yeshiva in Israel. He earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and criminal justice from the University of Maryland and participated in a study abroad program at the University of New South Wales. Benjamin earned his Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law.
The couple met at a rooftop event in New York City. To propose, Ben surprised Sarit, taking her to the Manhattan Cricket Club (site of their first date) that had been prepared ahead of time with beautiful flowers and posters. Both families had been planning the event for weeks — everyone knew it was happening except Sarit.
