Follman-Wolff Engagement
Published November 19, 2014
Joanna Robbins Follman, daughter of Deborah Robbins and Michael Follman of Long Island, N.Y., and Alexander Abraham Wolff, son of June and Alvin Wolff of St. Louis, have announced their engagement.
She is the granddaughter of the late Jewel and Jerome Robbins, and Freda and Benjamin Follman. He is the grandson of Helena and Ronald Friedman of Tamarac, Fla., and the late Arnold Kleinfeld, Millie Wolff and Alvin Wolff, Sr. Joanna earned her bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Delaware in 2008. She is the community manager for Pushup Social.
Her fiancé earned his bachelor of science degree in applied economics and management from Cornell University in 2008, and his juris doctor degree from Washington University in 2011. He is an attorney at Wolff and Associates.
Joanna and Alex met in September, 2011 in the International Terminal of the Philadelphia airport while waiting to embark on a Birthright trip to Israel. When the plane landed, Joanna found that her luggage had not arrived. Alex snuck away from the group to buy her a T-shirt to cheer her up, and this was the beginning of a two-year long-distance romance — Alex in St. Louis and Joanna in Philadelphia.
In September, 2013 Joanna moved to St. Louis to be with Alex.
Last month, Alex took Joanna for a picnic lunch in Forest Park to celebrate their three years of being together. While Joanna was busy looking through the picnic bag, Alex got down on one knee and Joanna responded with, “Wait, what are you doing?” Then he told Joanna that he wanted nothing more than to be with her forever — and she said “yes!”
An August, 2015 wedding is planned.
