Gal Gadot has offered her thoughts on the current situation in Israel and Palestine, and once again her Twitter haters have responded in force.
On Wednesday, the Israeli “Wonder Woman” star shared a statement on Twitter addressing the violence, sparked by the dispossession of Palestinian homes by Israel in occupied East Jerusalem.

“My heart breaks,” Gadot wrote. “My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friend. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long.”
Gadot’s Tweet comes after days of fierce fighting continues in Israel and Gaza on Wednesday with mounting casualties, while Arab-Israelis took to the streets across Israel in their largest protests in decades, with some turning violent.
Negative reaction to the tweet came pretty quickly, with many calling for her a Zionist, or using anti-Semitic imagery. Some even called for her to be fired from the next Wonder Woman film.
Gadot turned off comments on her tweet, but her statement prompted much controversy on the social media platform, with most criticizing the actress for soft-peddling Israel’s actions toward the Palestinian people.

Last October, Gadot became the target of Twitter hate when it was announced that she would star as Cleopatra.
As you might have heard I teamed up with @PattyJenks and @LKalogridis to bring the story of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, to the big screen in a way she’s never been seen before. To tell her story for the first time through women’s eyes, both behind and in front of the camera. pic.twitter.com/k5eyTIfzjB
