NJT plans cabaret event with Ari Axelrod

New York actor and cabaret artist Ari Axelrod will be perform during the New Jewish Theatre’s “Taking the Wheel” cabaret event, at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at the Jewish Community Center, 2 Millstone Campus Drive. 

In a show that explores Axelrod’s personal story and Jewish journey, Axelrod will perform songs from the Molly Picon musical “Milk and Honey,” “Shiksa Goddess” and Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last 5 Years,” as well as songs from “Les Misérables” performed in Hebrew, along with many others. His director for the cabaret is Tony award winning actress/singer Faith Prince.

Axelrod, a Chicago native, received his BFA in musical theater from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University and has been living and working in New York. 

Those attending will receive a complimentary glass of wine and snacks. Tickets are $45 for general admission; $100 for premium seating and a bottle of wine for the table; and $300 for a table for four. Additional wine will be available for purchase.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the New Jewish Theatre.
