After more than a year of the COVID-19 pandemic and masking and not being able to tell whether people are smiling or ready to bite your ear off like Mike Tyson, we could all use a laugh.

And who better to help make that happen than Jewish stand-up comedians?

Fortunately, you don’t need to travel to Los Angeles, New York or the Borscht Belt. Local venues Helium Comedy Club and St. Louis Funny Bone have reopened and booked a slate of funny Jews.

Here are some of the Jewish comics set to take the stage in the coming months.

• Josh Adam Meyers, who hosts the podcast “The 500 with Josh Adam Meyers” and voices ‘DJ’ Howlin Hank’ on Bill Burr’s animated Netflix show “F is for Family,” will perform June 24-27 at the Funny Bone. Here is a clip of Meyers performing music from his former Jewish hip-hop group, inspired by the Wu-Tang Clan, DASHECKALS: https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ1hemIAE7n/

• Bob Saget performs July 30-31 at Helium. We’re guessing you know who he is, but in case you don’t, he’s the comic who succeeds in overcoming the perception that he really is Danny Tanner from “Full House,” by being rather vulgar on stage. Listen to Saget talk about why he finds a deli tray at a bris problematic: https://www.jewishla.org/podcast/ep015-jays-4-bob-saget/

• Jeremy Piven performs Aug. 19-21 at Helium. The funny Jewish actor (here’s a video where Piven discusses how he struggled to learn his haftarah portion for his bar mitzvah) is best known for his role as Ari Gold on “Entourage.” Piven is trying to rebuild his career in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations made against him in 2017 (Piven has denied the allegations.)

• Marc Maron performs Sept. 16-18 at Helium. The star of the former IFC comedy “Maron” and host of the popular podcast “WTF” frequently discusses his Jewish identity. Listen to Maron and Mel Brooks talk about how Jewish comedy shaped modern comedy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHIv4uUGj_Y
