Herb Eissman

After retiring, Herb Eissman became a dedicated volunteer with Senior Olympics at the Jewish Community Center and later, at the National Council of Jewish Women’s Resale Shop.
 For the past six years, he has “worked” at the shop every single day between 1:30 and 4 p.m. A quiet and unassuming man, Eissman never has to be told what to do. He keeps busy straightening up the clothing displays, making sure the clothes are neat and in order so the racks look inviting to the customers. He also serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the shop.

Rachel Miller

Rachel Miller is a Holocaust survivor, and a breast cancer survivor whose son died of AIDS in the early 90s. She is a tireless champion for all of those causes. As a hidden child in France — she was hidden in a convent- she is the only survivor of her immediate family from the Holocaust. She speaks to students regularly at the Holocaust Museum and has touched thousands of lives with her testimony. She also started a non-profit called Shaving Israel to raise money to purchase toiletries for Israeli troops.

Richard Rovak

Richard Rovak is a tireless champion for causes in which he strongly believes. He has raised $80,000 in 12 years bike riding for the Gateway Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He also is on the board of Jewish Family  & Children’s Service where he now is a vice president helping to chair Agency Services Committee. In addition, he is President of the Board of Gateway to Hope, a nonprofit that pays for the care and treatment of people with breast cancer who cannot afford to do so. Rovak, a professional photographer, also spends a week each summer at Camp Rainbow for children with cancer or serious blood diseases, taking photos.
