Maccabi athletes bring home medals

Teenagers from St. Louis who took part in the 2010 JCC Maccabi Games St. Louis Delegation in Omaha, Neb. returned home last week with medals in several sports including basketball, soccer, tennis and golf. In addition, one teen, Alex Hummel, took home two golds in bowling.
These young athletes participated not only in sports, but experienced a “Day of Caring and Sharing,” lived with local Jewish families and met other competitors from all over the world. The 2011 St. Louis delegation will be participating in the JCC Maccabi Games in Israel. Here is how the St. Louis delegation placed:
Girls Basketball Team – Bronze (St. Louis defeated Atlanta 60-37 in bronze medal game)
Boys Soccer 15/16 year olds – Bronze (St. Louis defeated Chicago/N. Virginia 7-4 in bronze medal game)
Bowling
High Series – boys 15/16 year olds – Alex Hummel – Gold
High Game Doubles – boys 15/16 year olds – Alex Hummel (with Benjamin Wierba-from Windsor) – Gold
Day 1 competition – boys 15/16 year olds – Alex Hummel – Silver
Golf –
13/14 year olds division – Jacob Pollak – Silver
15/16 year olds division – Adam Belsky – Bronze
15/16 year olds division – Jordan Nathanson – Silver
