Kolot Women’s Choir rehearsal welcomes new members

Haraeetah Ezeh Yofee, performed by Kolot

Kolot, an inclusive, multi-generational Jewish women’s choir, will hold its first rehearsal of 2019-2020 season from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the May Chapel of Congregation Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive.  Anyone interested in joining the choir is encouraged to attend.

While no auditions are required, the ability to read music is helpful.  All voice types are welcome, and sopranos are particularly needed this year. The choir rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings, from September to May.

Kolot was founded in 2005 by member Jackie Gerson and currently features more than 25 singers. The choir is directed by music educator Betti Blumoff, a member of the St. Louis Circle of Jewish Music.  The group sings a diverse repertoire of Jewish music in English, Hebrew and Yiddish, as well as show tunes and standards from the great American songbook. Kolot performs at Jewish community events and presents concerts for local organizations and retirement centers.

For more information and to RSVP for the Sept. 3 session, contact Blumoff at [email protected] or 314-757-6683.
