Joel Chasnoff promises to bring laughs to YPD campaign closing event

“One Night Stand Up” returns for the second year as the theme of Jewish Federation’s Young Professionals Division (YPD) campaign closing bash, bringing funny man Joel Chasnoff to St. Louis for a night of costume and comedy. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8-11 p.m. at 560 Music Center in University City.

Chasnoff, who has made a name for himself around the globe, including gigs as the warm-up act for Lewis Black and Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show,” is known for his play on Jewish life in America. Chasnoff has taken the stage in seven countries, most recently in Japan and Korea with the USO Comedy Tour, entertaining the American Marines. His comedic memoir, “The 188th Crybaby Brigade: A Skinny Jewish Kid from Chicago Fights Hezbollah,” has been called “a Jewish ‘Jarhead'” – a funny and moving account of his experience in the Israeli Army.

Tickets are $18 in advance or $25 at the door. The event celebrates and thanks young adults who have made a minimum gift of $52 – a dollar a week – to the 2011 Jewish Federation Annual Community Campaign, helping Federation develop and sustain a thriving Jewish community through more than 50 local, national and international agencies, programs, services and innovative projects. If you have not yet made your contribution, you can still do so as you register.

Sponsors of the event are Capital Performance, Abeles & Hoffman, Washington University, and University College. Event chairs are Jeremy Lieb, Julie Abeles, Dave Gutwein, Matt Price and EB Solomont.
