United Hebrew Congregation’s Chai Society will honor Susan Becker, Barb Bloomrosen, Charlie Feldman, Lori Lander, Abby and Jim Susman and Alan Wolff at its May 5 celebration at the R&R Ranch. They are being recognized for their contributions to the life (chai) of the congregation. Becker is a volunteer in United Hebrew’s Unique Treasures gift shop. Bloomrosen is a preschool teacher at the congregation’s Saul Spielberg Early Childhood Center. Feldman, a retired engineer, volunteers with Mercy Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and the First Tee. Lander is the founder of Girls in the Know, and co-owner and facilitator of Language of Happiness. Jim Susman is owner of Susman Group, a property management company; Abby Susman is a parent-educator with the Mehlville School District. Wolff is a CPA with Wolff & Grossman P.C.
Joanne Iskiwitch has been presented with the Coldwell Banker International President’s Circle award in recognition of her 2017 sales performance. This achievement ranks her among the top 5 percent of Coldwell Banker sales professionals worldwide and in the top 1 percent of all St. Louis area real estate agents. Iskiwitch attends Temple Emanuel.
Sam Fox, business leader and philanthropist, has been inducted into the Association of Churchill Fellows. This is an honorary society of people dedicated to the development and use of the National Churchill Museum at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., where Sir Winston Churchill delivered his Iron Curtain speech in 1946. Also inducted was Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, who was the guest speaker at the college on March 25.
Jewish Federation of St. Louis will be celebrating Marilyn Fox all year as the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award honoree, culminating in Miami on Jan. 13 at the Lion of Judah International Conference. The award recognizes Fox for exemplifying the spirit of the Lion of Judah by her proven commitment to the Jewish community through leadership and philanthropic giving.
The Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel (MCRC) and the Arts as Healing Foundation are two of 20 organizations and individuals being honored by FOCUS St. Louis at its 21st annual What’s Right with the Region Awards celebration May 10 at the Sheldon Concert Hall. Both in the “innovative solutions” category. Gail Appleson and Gary Sarachan are among the founders of MCRC, which serves as a vehicle through which law firms can volunteer staff to handle cases for the Missouri Public Defender System. Vicki Friedman is the executive director, founder and facilitator/teacher for the Arts as Healing Foundation, which offers cancer patients and their caregivers an opportunity for creative expression and fulfillment by providing free art lessons and a variety of other artistic and educational activities. Jewish Federation of St. Louis is one of the event sponsors, and its president & CEO, Andrew Rehfeld, is a co-chair.
Sam Broh was one of six people to be inducted into the West Virginia Soccer Association Hall of Fame on March 3. A member of Temple Emanuel, Broh was recognized for his involvement as a coach, referee and co-founder of the WV Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association among other endeavors.
Rabbi Randy Fleisher of Central Reform Congregation and his son, Wake Up to Politics newsletter founder Gabe Fleisher, 16, have been honored by Metro Theater Company as Conductors of Change at a recent performance of “Bud, Not Buddy.” According to Metro Theater, father and son highlight the theme of the play, making a positive change, by informing and engaging their community and offering leadership to help guide the way.
Lenore and Edwin Pepper will receive the American Jewish Committee’s Netzach Award on May 7 at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown St. Louis. AJC St. Louis is honoring the Peppers for their values and commitment to service to the Jewish community and region.
The families, employees, residents and friends of Delmar Gardens Enterprises — nursing centers, retirement and assisted living communities, and home care and hospice agencies — raised almost $27,000 last year to support the programs, services and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association of St. Louis. The organization also raised more than $19,000 to support the programs, services and research efforts of the American Diabetes Association. Gabe Grossberg, a member of Tpheris Israel Chevra Kadisha, is president and CEO of Delmar Gardens.
Stacy Taubman and Adam Tenzer, both 39, have been selected for this year’s “40 Under 40” by the St. Louis Business Journal. Taubman is the founder of RISE Collaborative Workspace, a company that provides professional office space and services designed for working women while offering mentorship, training and coaching to teenage girls. Tenzer is senior vice president of global customer service at Mastercard.
The Clayton Education Foundation has announced its 2018 inductees to the Clayton Alumni Hall of Fame. Seven of the honorees are Kelly Mittleman Hager (Clayton high school class of 1990), Norman Handshear (’66), Harvey Harris (’54), Jere Hochman (’70), Bruce Levy (’80), the late Lori Crasilneck Hope (’72) and the late Robert Komer (’38). Handshear is a member of Congregation Shaare Emeth; Harris belongs to Temple Israel; and Hochman is a member of CRC. The biennial event recognizes and honors the accomplishments of Clayton High School graduates who continue to bring pride and inspiration to the school district of Clayton, the community and society.
