Who doesn’t like a good laugh?
That’s right, nobody. And while this somebody might not be a household name yet, she’s definitely drawing attention as a Jewish queer comedian/actor/hot person whose comedic viral TikToks (https://www.tiktok.com/@antonialastar?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc) are making her an internet sensation.
Antonia Lassar’s comedy has been featured by Just for Laughs, Glamour Magazine, USA Today and Hey Alma. She performs with the iconic UCB Theatre, co-hosts the Yenta Podcast and performs standup in Los Angeles as well as your mom’s synagogue (she’s a perennial favorite on the Reform synagogue circuit).
Expect her to rift on everything from the Reform movement’s obsession with the word “meaningful,” to Chabad’s menorah distribution cartels, to whether Debbie Friedman is actually the Messiah– this show promises to have something for everyone who’s ever met a Jew. Also, everyone has to sing. (Because duh. Judaism. We sing. A lot. Especially if we went to Jewish summer camp).
On Tuesday, Feb. 20 Jewish St. Louis twenty-and-thirtysomethings can also catch Lassar locally at a Comedy Night & Dessert Nosh for Young Adults when she performs at MaTovu, 4200 Blaine Ave. The evening is sponsored by Congregation Shaare Emeth, MaTovu and YPD. The dessert nosh started at 7:15 followed by Lassar’s show at 7:30. Tickets are $18 at https://sestl.co/comedynight
