Viewership for Hollywood award shows has been on the decline in recent years, with many attributing the drop to factors such as politics, negativity and unfunny hosts. However, the announcement of the hosts for the 2024 Emmys may bring a refreshing change, particularly for Jewish viewers.
Eugene Levy and his son, Dan Levy, are set to make history in 2024 as the first-ever father-son duo to host the Emmy Awards. The ceremony for the 76th annual awards will take place on Sept. 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be televised on ABC starting at 7 p.m. CT.
The Levys, Emmy-Award winners themselves for their work on the beloved comedy “Schitt’s Creek,” can be expected to make the evening memorable.
“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” said Eugene and Dan Levy in a joint press release statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”
Eugene Levy may even have the chance to take home some hardware as he is also nominated for an Emmy this year for his Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler.”
