The Jewish Community Center will spotlight the community’s young theatrical talent during performances of two shows for children.
The New Jewish Theatre Youth Theatre Program performances take place between April 30 and May 10. Performances include:
• The Teen Theatre program performs “Seussical Jr.!” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30 and at 3:30 pm. Sunday, May 3. The one-hour version of the musical tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. He must save them from a world of naysayers and dangers, but also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care. Horton ultimately learns about friendship, loyalty, family and community.
• The following week, Theatre Chaverim (including third through fifth grade performers) will present “How to Eat Like a Child” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10.
The show is based on the book of the same title. This musical edition shares the joys and sorrows of being a child — from begging parents for a new pet to coping with being sent to one’s room.
All performances are at the JCC’s Staenberg Family Complex in the Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive. Tickets are available to the public and can be purchased by calling 314-442-3175 or online at brownpapertickets.com.
