Glenn Close is fierce in season 2 of this thrilling Israeli show

One of the most suspenseful Israeli shows ever made is finally coming back for season two this May. “Tehran” is about an Israeli Mossad agent (Niv Sultan) with Persian roots who gets stuck on a mission in the Iranian capital. Apple TV+ just released a two-minute-long trailer for the upcoming season, which will guest star the amazing Glenn Close, and it looks like it’s going to be even more thrilling than the last. I’m not sure my nail beds are going to survive this one!
The trailer sees Tamar Rabinayan back in the spy game, recruited for a new mission after her first one failed and she was betrayed by one of the people she trusted the most in season one (no spoilers!). This time, Tamar recruits anti-government and pro-democracy hacker Milad (Shervin Alenabi), who she met and fell for in season one, to help her on a mission that will see her going into “the belly of the beast.” Also returning this season is American Persian Jewish actor Sean Toub, who plays Faraz Kamali, a Revolutionary Guards official who tailed Tamar extremely closely all through season one.
“The Mossad sent me to Tehran on a mission but then everything went wrong,” Tamar says in the trailer.
“You’re a good agent, Tamar,” Close, wearing a hijab, tells her. “We failed this operation, but it wasn’t for nothing. We’re playing the long game here.”
Tamar looks as mystified by Close’s character as we are. “Who sent you?” she asks.
“Trust me,” Close replies, a line that always means very good things in thrillers, as we all know.
This trailer is so full of action and intrigue, I have a feeling that season two of “Tehran” might surpass its predecessor. The first two episodes will be premiering on Apple TV+ on May 6, with each of the following six airing weekly on Fridays.
I can’t wait.
