Event aims to fill NCJW’s Kids Community Closets

National Council of Jewish Women – St. Louis Section will hold “Cocktails and Closets” on April 28 at NewSpace (1960 Innerbelt Circle Drive) to benefit the expanding Kids Community Closet program, which provides elementary schoolchildren lacking basic essentials with the items they need to stay in school, such as winter coats and clothing, in order to increase daily attendance and help further their education.

“NCJW and Kids Community Closet are in a unique position because of the plans to grow rapidly throughout the next school year,” said Alice Ludmer, event co-chair. “This is a really great opportunity for members of the community to learn about what KCC does, and how it impacts the children it serves.”

More than 5,000 children currently have access to the 13 Closets (in Ferguson-Florissant, St. Louis Public Schools, University City, Normandy Collaborative School District, KIPP St. Louis Charter School and at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry. NCJW plans to open five more closets in the next year.

The Cocktails and Closets event is open to the community and costs $18 to attend. Attendees are asked to bring new socks/underwear or a gift card to Target or Old Navy to help stock the Kids Community Closet program. Visit www.ncjwstl.org for more information and to register.

Event co-chairs are Alice Ludmer, Stephanie Ludmer Gross and Susan Witte.
