Esther Miller Bais Yaakov High School students are planning a musical production for women from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 9 at the Clayton High School Theater. The school’s students stage a production every other year — students spend summers and evenings writing the story, creating the costumes and scenery, writing the words to the music, choreographing the dancing and arranging the lighting and sound. The students also are involved in selling tickets and advertisements that appear in the show’s playbill. 

The script was written by Shira Bromberg and Shevy Zeffen, two graduates of Esther Miller Bais Yaakov, together with Esti Zuravin, one of their teachers. The story opens as Shana and her classmates embark on an assignment from their teacher that explains the meaning of a mashal and a nimshal, a parable and its message. Shana is swept away as she falls into a deep sleep. She dreams of a princess named Rose, who is in search of life’s true meaning. Rose is restless and dissatisfied with the direction her life has set, and craves the chance to taste something exciting and new.  

Those who attend the production, will join Rose as she faces the choices between royalty with the responsibilities and obligations it entails, and the sinister yet exciting life of living with a family of travelers.
